FAQ's

No. When you book accommodation at Alkina, regardless of whether you are a party of two or eight, you will have an entire Lodge to yourself.

Each Lodge has four bedrooms, the Master with an en-suite and three others that share a bathroom. The four bedrooms come with king beds that can be converted into 2 x king singles on request, at least 14 days prior to your stay, otherwise all beds will be made up as 4 king beds. This allows us to be flexible in terms of the accommodation options, making us an ideal choice for families. However, if you are planning a romantic weekend for two, rest assured that you will have the entirety of a lodge and all of its facilities to yourself.

If you are interested in accommodating a larger group, for instance several families, a social or work-related group of colleagues, it is possible to book the other Lodges. Booking two Lodges will allow you to accommodate anywhere from 9 to 16 people. Booking the third Lodge will provide accommodation for up to 24 people.

Alkina’s water supply consists of collected rainwater, stored in tanks. While this water is of an exceptional standard, to ensure the safety and peace of mind of our guests, each Lodge is fitted with a filtration and UV treatment system to guarantee the pristine quality of our water.

Car rental companies sometimes specify that clients are not to take their vehicles off-road. While Parker’s Access Track and the Moonlight Head’s Road are not surfaced, they are well-established gravel roads and meet the requirements for standard driving surfaces. They are not “off-road” tracks.

Secure car parking is available at each of the Lodges. There is under-cover parking for one vehicle, and space for a second or third car if required.

Alkina Lodge is in a relatively remote location. The nearest towns, Colac and Apollo Bay are both an hour’s drive away. Of these two towns, Colac is larger and offers a more substantial range of supermarkets, restaurants, general shops and petrol stations.

Port Campbell is approximately 30 minutes drive and has a limited range of shops and restaurants (the supermarket is small and has a limited range). Timboon is approximately 40 minutes away, and offers a slightly larger range of shopping options than Port Campbell.

Laver’s Hill is approximately ten minutes drive. Yatzies Cafe offers take-away food and a very basic range of grocery items.

From Alkina Lodge it is a ten to fifteen minute drive to the Twelve Apostles Visitors’ Centre. This means Alkina Lodge is in the perfect position for you to explore not only the Twelve Apostles, but the many other attractions of the Shipwreck Coast.

We do not offer in house meals, but very happy for you to organise your own local chef or catering.

If driving along the Great Ocean Road, it takes about 3 hours.

If taking the inland route through Colac, Alkina Lodge can be reached in under 3 hours.

The lodges ‘breathe’ and can get chilly, so in winter, please bring appropriate clothing.

The lodges are designed to capture as much light as possible, if you would like to sleep in, we recommend bringing a sleeping mask.

Bike riders must complete a waiver and bring and wear their own safety helmet. Safety is your responsibility.
